THE DIGITAL PRINTING TREND – CUSTOM ARTWORKS FOR MILLIONS OF DIFFERENT PACKAGING SOLUTIONS

Once again, nutella is at the forefront in marketing and printing innovations – with the support of DAS STUDIO. In many countries, people are already accustomed to re-using their famous jars with a variety of designs as drinking glasses.
There are glasses with complete shrink sleeves that look like a penguin or snowman. Glasses are already available with personalized labels, for instance with a custom name.
Now, Nutella Italy has produced 7 million individually numbered jars, going above and beyond these earlier efforts.

DAS STUDIO prepared 12 different graphics as templates for the printing technology. The technology used by the printer then rotates, zooms, and inverts the templates to create unique designs to print on each label, meaning that no two labels are alike.

The result is an explosion of color on the supermarket shelf and true motivation for real nutella fans: to collect jars with sequential numbers.
This time, it really would be impossible to collect all the glasses in the series.

CENTRAL CONTROLLING TO PRODUCE MILLIONS OF CUSTOM PACKAGING PIECES USING DIFFERENT PRINTERS

The majority of brand owners are interested in the potential promised by digital printing, and they have been at least since the last Drupa.

Currently, most large-scale print runs and handled by one printer, with all data prepared in-house and on appropriate hardware. This makes it difficult to use different service providers or locations. In addition, it doesn’t follow the “best practice” process described as “central reproduction” or “design-to-print.”

DAS STUDIO can provide central controlling for this kind of digital printing project, for instance using HP printers for foils and labels and sending the individual data to different print service providers. All artworks receive their own unique identification number, and a sweepstakes code as well if necessary.
This means these projects can be managed centrally without being tied to a single printer.
